Register your child for school early

If you are new to the area and have school-age children, the Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board urges you to register students for school early.  Students from Kindergarten through OAC can be registered at any one of the Board's 54 public elementary and secondary schools.
Elementary students may be registered during the week of August 27 to 31. Please call ahead to your child's school to find out the best dates and times for registration. Dates for Secondary School registrations may vary from school to school, so please contact your secondary school immediately to get those dates. You are also encouraged to make an appointment for your secondary student with the school's guidance counsellor.
Children, who turn four years of age on or before December 31, 2001, can register for Junior Kindergarten. If you are unsure about which school your child will attend, call the Education Centre at 966-1170.
Parents or guardians need to provide all of the following information when they register their child for school:

You may call the Hastings and Prince Edward Counties Health Unit at 966-5500 for information about the immunization schedule in Ontario, to verify that the child's record is up to date, to obtain the exemption form if the child has not been immunized for medical reasons or because of a conflict of religion or conscience or for information about how to have the child immunized if the child does not have an Ontario health card and the parent can't afford a doctor's fee for immunization.
Once your child is registered, if you require information regarding bus transportation please contact the Transportation Department at 966-1170, ext. 2217.
Remember, school starts for all students on Tuesday, September 4. Please register your student in advance so that the school staff will be ready for your child.
