Board elects leadership
At it's inaugural meeting
on December 4, 2000, the trustees of the Hastings and Prince Edward District
School Board were sworn in followed by the election of its Chair and Vice-chair
for 2001.
The only new face around
the Board table was Jim Williams, who was elected trustee for Quinte West.
Previously, Mr. Williams had been a trustee with the former Hastings County
Board of Education.
Audrey Carter, trustee for
North Prince Edward, was re-elected Chair for her second full term. She
ran unopposed for the position. "I look forward to working with everyone
around this table," said Chair Carter. "This will undoubtedly be another
busy year, but with everyone working together, trustees, senior administration,
staff, both teaching and non-teaching, school councils, and our community,
we can provide an excellent education to our students."
There was a change in Vice-chair
for the Board, with Judy Edgar, trustee for North Hastings, being elected.
Mrs. Edgar was an active parent volunteer with schools before becoming
trustee in 1997 with the newly amalgamated Hastings and Prince Edward District
School Board.
