New art gallery opens
at Bayside Secondary School
The art is on the wall at
Bayside Secondary School and students helped to make it happen.
"Jamie Ellis, Julie Tucker,
Erin Wood and Crystal Wannamaker deserve a special thank you for helping
with the gallery," says Bayside Secondary School art teacher, Susan Milne.
"Many students spent several hours painting over the high gloss graphic
image that was on the walls."
The result is a warm modern
display space for showing student art in a professional manner. There's
plenty of display space for three dimensional art as well as flat works.
New lighting in the secure area also helps to create the inviting atmosphere.
With the gallery having
just opened, the first exhibition is a display of works by first semester
OAC art students. There are works in photography, acrylic, watercolour,
ceramic painting and other media, all accompanied by the artists' workbooks
describing their methodology and creative process.
The second floor art gallery
is now a welcoming open space for students to work and study in during
their breaks and it is also open to the public during special events in
the evenings.
