Volunteering

Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board welcome parents and community members involvement at schools and in school activities. Procedure 498: Volunteers in Schools (Pdf) and Procedure 498 Form 2: Volunteer Information (Pdf) outline the responsibilities and expectations of a volunteer. To volunteer at schools and school activities please review the required steps below.

Steps required for new volunteers

  • All volunteer applicants must provide the school or volunteer program contact with Procedure 498 Form 1: Volunteer Application (Pdf)
  • All volunteer applicants must provide the school or volunteer program contact with a police record check that:
    • is dated within one year
    • identifies any criminal convictions or criminal charges
    • includes a search of the Pardoned Sexual Offences Database, and a Vulnerable Sector Search.

Steps required for existing volunteers

  • All volunteer applicants must provide the school or volunteer program contact with Procedure 498 Form 3: Offence Declaration (Pdf) that:
    • is dated within one year
    • identifies any criminal convictions or criminal charges
    • includes a search of the Pardoned Sexual Offences Database, and a Vulnerable Sector Search.

Steps required for volunteers to attend out of school learning excursions

  • All volunteer applicants must provide the school with Procedure 230 Form: Excursion: Volunteer Application (Pdf)
  • All volunteer applicants must provide the school or volunteer program contact with a Police Record Check that:
    • is dated within one year
    • identifies any criminal convictions or criminal charges
    • includes a search of the Pardoned Sexual Offences Database, and a Vulnerable Sector Search.
  • If the volunteer applicant has previously submitted a valid police record check, another is not required.
