‘What Am I Thinking?’ Symposium at PECI promotes healthy relationships

Students at Prince Edward Collegiate Institute care about themselves and their community, especially when it comes to promoting healthy relationships.

This week, students and staff will participate in the first W.A.I.T. (What Am I Thinking?) Symposium, an event to bring awareness and a deeper understanding of domestic violence.

DATE: Thursday, May 12, 2011
LOCATION: Prince Edward Collegiate Institute, 41 Barker Street, and Picton Arena, Picton
TIME: 8:15 a.m. to 2:15 p.m.

Keynote speaker Wambui Bahati, and interactive workshops facilitated by community members, will focus on defining domestic violence, and promoting healthy relationships amongst teens. The expectation is that students will take the time to identify unhealthy situations and ask themselves What Am I Thinking? The goal is to teach students valuable lessons about healthy relationships that will help them make good decisions when choosing friends and romantic interests.

This event was made possible due to a $5,000 Project Enhancement Fund grant from The Hastings and Prince Edward Learning Foundation, the largest grant awarded to date.
