“Underground Railroad” blues concert, Tues., Oct. 27, 2009
Internationally acclaimed recording artists Diana Braithwaite and Chris Whiteley bring the proud history of the underground railroad and early Canadian black settlers to life through blues performances. They will be in Belleville for three daytime performances at elementary schools and will also perform an evening concert for the public. The show includes a tribute Dr. Alexander Milton Ross, a daring underground railroad worker from Belleville.
Daytime performances are scheduled for Frankford Public School, Harmony Public School and Harry J. Clarke Public School on October 27 and 28, 2009. Children respond well to learning history through music. Songs tell the story in an interesting way and keep it moving along. The performances also introduce many to different musical instruments.
