Moira Secondary School arranged Think Day, a successful transitional event for students that happened in May, 2010. A motivational presentation and live band was put on by Absolute Leadership Development (ALD). The presentation and music was well-received by students and staff.
The event began in the afternoon with a BBQ for all Grad 9 and incoming Grade 8 students. After lunch the students enjoyed a one-hour high energy, motivational musical performance by ALD. Moira Secondary School student leaders also lead a workshop focusing on perseverance. The workshop offered Grade 8 students the opportunity to interact with experienced high school students and also discuss the importance of perseverance.
Think Day helps Grade 8 students transition to high school as they have an opportunity to be in the high school environment and meet high school students. Moira Secondary School in collaboration with ALD provided a great experience for these students and a chance to create a stronger student body.
ALD fully sponsored Think Day and provided Moira Secondary School with an opportunity that could cost over $5,000. The presentation provided by the organization had team members that were close to the age of the students, therefore the students could relate when the speakers spoke about issues that they went through.
