Lisa Vincent, Quinte Secondary School Principal has been elected an Executive Position for the International Confederation of Principals for the term January 2010 to December 2011.
The ICP provides Ontario and Canadian principals with an opportunity to learn from school leaders from around the world. A valuable component of membership through this professional organization is the sharing of expertise, research findings and resources.
“I am grateful for the opportunity to serve as the one executive member representing north, south and central Americas and appreciate the support from the Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board, the Ontario Principals’ Council and my colleagues. It is an incredible opportunity to expand my learning, to serve my colleagues, and to bring back knowledge to my school and to the HPEDSB,” said Lisa Vincent.
Lisa’s main goals are to make connections and increase participation and membership of principals’ organizations in North, South and Central America.
As an executive member, Lisa will be involved in meetings with the International executive and with the International Council to further the work of the ICP in serving member organizations from around the world. A key role will be to represent the Americas as an executive member and to increase communication within principal organizations in the region.
Lisa has been fortunate to attend International Council meetings and to visit schools in New Zealand, China, Australia, USA, England, Ireland, and Singapore. She has learned about school organization, student involvement and leadership, instructional and assessment practices, facilities enhancements such as the use of technology to enhance instruction, inclusive education, leadership hubs in schools (shared and distributed leadership), and strategic planning to improve student performance.
During her term with the ICP, Lisa will be involved with the International Confederation of Principals World Convention which being hosted by the Ontario Principals’ Council from August 15 to 18, 2011 in Toronto. The program strands will align with the five domains of the Leadership Framework which is currently being implemented in HPEDSB and in districts province-wide. The convention expects to attract more than 2000 participants from all regions of the world.
“The ICP has provided me, as a school based leader to significantly expand my professional development and knowledge, which I try to bring back to my role as a Principal in HPEDSB and to our board through committee work and professional development,” said Lisa.
