Technology and creativity demonstrated at Prince of Wales PS
Students, staff, parents and community members celebrated “Media Night” at Prince of Wales Public School on Wednesday, May 11, 2011. Through cross-curricular, integrated planning and instruction, students in Grades 6 to 8 designed, produced, marketed and sold a product or service using the problem solving process and advertising strategies. They then presented the products and services for sale at Media Night.
During the event, the 300 participants browsed the new inventions or modifications of existing products or services for one hour before deciding which ones to purchase. Monies earned from Media Night were used to pay back investors who supported individual product creations and some groups even donated money to a specific charity of their choice. These students are to be commended for their demonstration of Growing with Character!
Intermediate students created their own animated movie using a company named "The Director’s Cut Workshop." Students used their creative talents to create a story board, script, backgrounds and clay characters to tell a story about a topic of their choice. After engaging in the recording, editing and revision process, students were given a copy of their digitally recorded production.
