Background on each school
From its origins as a one-room schoolhouse in 1831, Bayside Public School has grown to a complex of three buildings located on Highway #2 at Aikins Rd., halfway between Belleville and Trenton. School programs focus on character education, literacy and numeracy. All students benefit from a huge playground and track, an instrumental music program and an automated library that includes bilingual materials. Programs are linked to the neighbouring Bayside Secondary School.
Bayside Secondary School (BSS) is a dynamic learning environment on a 200-acre campus, one of the largest in North America. BSS offers students a myriad of opportunities to learn and grow in classes, co- and extra-curricular activities and in the community itself. The full range of courses is enriched with specialized programming which extends student options and experiences.
C.M.L. Snider is home to 310 students from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 8. C.M.L. Snider School offers a safe, supportive learning environment. “Supporting Learning and Community Values” is exemplified by the balance of academic programs with healthy active living and physical education, and community partnerships with the Kiwanis Club, local OPP and Prince Edward Child Care Services.
Harry J. Clarke Public School, located in the heart of Belleville’s residential east end and close to the YMCA, serves 700 students from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 8. Harry J. Clarke offers a French Immersion Program for students in Grades 4 to 8. In addition, an enriched program for Intermediate students called Destinations is located nearby at Moira Secondary School. Harry J. Clarke PS is a Healthy Active School Community.
Twinned schools Stirling Primary and Stirling Junior are located one block apart in the village of Stirling and serve approximately 450 students from the surrounding area. The Primary school hosts students in Junior Kindergarten to Grade 1. The Junior school hosts students in Grade 2 to 5. Ongoing, open communication between home, school and community encourages parents and the community to take an active partnership in our children’s education. Both schools provide opportunities to foster success for all students to achieve their personal best in academics, the arts, sports and citizenship.
