Students earned top recognition at a skills competition
Congratulations to 55 HPEDSB secondary school students who earned top recognition at a local skills competition on Friday, March 2, 2012. The event featured approximately 100 participants from four school boards and one college. At this event, students demonstrate their skills and knowledge in various competitions, while respecting appreciation for the other competitors.
Following is a list of the HPEDSB winners in each category.
Aesthetics (2 person)
- 1st place: Carly Frost and Alicia Platt, Trenton High School
- 2nd place: Connor Ferguson and Jenna Verreault, Trenton High School
Automotive (Service Technician)
- 1st place: Tyler Forbes, Quinte Secondary School
- 3rd place: Justin Bell, Centennial Secondary School
Carpentry (2 person)
- 1st place: Shawn Peck and Dakota Ruttan, Quinte Secondary School
Carpentry (4 person)
- 3rd place: Jeremiah Doherty, Michael Burfoot, Connor Wells, and Jordan Haggett, Bayside Secondary Schol
Precision Machining
- 1st place: Jacob Yntema, Quinte Secondary School
- 2nd place: Mathew Kinmond, Bayside Secondary School
- 3rd place: Cody Leger, Bayside Secondary School
Welding
- 1st place: Jeff Chiasson, Quinte Secondary School
- 3rd place: Case Hart-Maxwell, Bayside Secondary School
Participants were from the following schools/boards:
- Algonquin and Lakeshore Catholic District School Board
- Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board
- Limestone District School Board
- Loyalist College
Some of these finalists will proceed to provincial competitions taking place in April 2012.
