Students and seniors team up for concert band performances

Treat yourself to a special evening of concert band music featuring the Bayside Secondary School and Quinte Living Centre concert bands. Both will perform separately and then unite for a number of mass band selections.

LOCATION: Bayside Secondary School, 1247 Highway 2, Belleville

Repertoire for the evening will include familiar pieces, such as, Folk Song Suite by R. Vaughan Williams, Hootenanny by Harold L. Walters, Amparito Roca by Jaime Texidor, Bugler’s Holiday by Leroy Anderson, as well as new favourites including The Lion King arranged by John Higgins and Disney Movie Magic.

The 40-member Bayside Secondary School Concert Band is active in community and school events. The Quinte Living Centre Band is made up of 25+ Belleville music lovers. It has been involved in municipal events and summer concerts for over 25 years. Originally started as a seniors’ band at the Quinte Living Centre, members now range in age from teenagers to seniors. Both bands are conducted by Shawn Fairbrother.

Admission is $5 at the door with proceeds supporting the purchase of new music.
