Congratulations to two students from Stirling Senior Public School whose design for a banner was selected as one of seven finalists in the National Capital Commission cross-Canada student banner contest.
Diana Boisvert, Grade 6 and Bronwen Parr, Grade 7, created a banner they called Life as We Know it. They said, "the theme of our banner is how we keep what is important to us. It goes from what is most important to the least important."
Students in Grades 5 through 8 were invited to create and submit a one-of-a-kind banner design to the “Raise Your Voices!” National Student Banner Contest. They responded overwhelmingly with close to 1,300 submissions received from coast to coast to coast. The inspired designs represent issues and topics of importance to Canadian youth.
The seven winning banners will be professionally produced by the NCC and flown in Major’s Hill Park where they will be seen by thousands of residents and visitors from the end of May to October 2011. In addition, the NCC will send a set of banners to student winners and their school, listed as follows, in alphabetical order by school name.
