Tri-Board Student Transportation Services and its member school boards, Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board (HPEDSB) and the Algonquin and Lakeshore Catholic District School Board (ALCDSB), are issuing the following advisory as it pertains to the busing of some of its students.
Boldrick Bus Service Ltd., under contract with Tri-Board Student Transportation Services, is involved in a collective bargaining process with drivers represented by Local 91 of the Teamsters Union. Boldrick Bus Service Ltd. is one of 70 service providers under contract with Tri-Board Student Transportation Services.
Contract negotiations are ongoing. Bus drivers could be in a legal strike position as early as Sunday, January 24, 2010. At this time there is no indication that there will be a withdrawal of bus service. This news release is being issued strictly as a precaution to advise parents, guardians and students about a potential interruption of service.
Boldrick Bus Service Ltd. serves students of both Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board and Algonquin and Lakeshore Catholic District School Board. Approximately 2,700 students would be impacted with approximately 1,900 being HPEDSB students and 800 ALCDSB students.
This is a matter between Boldrick Bus Service Ltd. and their employees, however, Tri-Board Student Transportation Services and area school boards recognize that any withdrawal of services will have a direct impact on students and their families.
If a strike occurs, and bus cancellations are therefore required, this information will be shared with parents and the public through local radio stations and the Tri-Board website.
Additional information will be provided as the situation develops.
