Guitar great Steve Piticco visited Moira Secondary School

Steve PiticcoStudents at Moira Secondary School [1]recently spent a class with with Canadian guitarist Steve Piticco.

Piticco interacted with the students during a guitar workshop for Mr. Cranshaw’s class. Piticco talked about his life on the road and what it is like playing with well-known Canadian performers such as Tommy Hunter, Dolly Parton, Charlie McCoy and Merle Haggard to name just a few. Piticco also talked about his style of guitar playing, how the Nashville Numbering System works and the importance of staying in school.

Steve Piticco was born in Toronto, Ontario on July 6, 1961. He started playing guitar at age 11. At age 15 he purchased his first Telecaster guitar and has performed professionally with that specific guitar ever since. Piticco has toured and recorded with countless top Canadian country acts who value his distinctive Tele sound. Piticco was awarded the International Instrumentalist Award in 1993, 1994 and 2001, 2002, 2003, and the Canadian County Music Association "Guitar Player of the Year Award" in  1990/91/92 and 1993.
