“This is a day of celebration and anticipation as we watch the progress of building a new school,” said Thelma Goodfellow, Trustee for Southeast Hastings.
Construction is underway on the existing Tweed-Hungerford Senior school site. The fencing is up, machinery is on-site and the foundations are being dug. This school is scheduled to open in September 2013. It will combine approximately 375 elementary students from the two Tweed schools. The $7.3 million project is fully-funded by the Ministry of Education.
According to Director of Education Rob McGall, the new school will provide students with an optimum learning environment.

“The new school will have large windows for natural light, modern heating and air conditioning units and be wired for Internet access. It will also have learning spaces where students can collaborate and work in small groups together.”
