Congratulations to regional science fair winners
Five students from Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board were finalists the Quinte Regional Science and Technology Fair.
Selected for Best in Grade awards were the following:
Grade 4: Maahika Mehta from Sir John A Macdonald School, for the project Viscosity of Liquids.
Grade 6: Holly Tetzlaff from Queen Victoria School, for the project Monkeying Around With Bananas.
Grade 7: Arjun Moorthy from the Destinations Programme at Harry J. Clarke Public School, for the project Water Wise.
Grade 8: Govind Pisharodi from the Destinations Programme at Harry J. Clarke Public School, for the project The Antioxidant Effect: A Study on the Relationship Between Antioxidants and Free Radicals.
Grades 9: Theresa DeCola from Bayside Secondary School, for the project Theresa’s Interplanetary Shipping 3 – A Multi-phasic Independent Mission Design Analysis.
The 53rd Annual Quinte Regional Science and Technology Fair was held at Loyalist College in Belleville on Saturday, March 31, 2012.About 200 colourful, well-researched projects from students in Grades 4 to 12 throughout Hastings County and Prince Edward County were on display. Students competed for honours and awards in many categories as they made presentations to the 130+ judges. As part of the judging process every student received a written list of comments on how they might improve their future projects.
Theresa DeCola was selected to the 51st Annual Canada Wide Science Fair team. That event will be held in Charlottetown, P.E.I in May 2012. Participants at the Canada Wide fair compete for close to $1 million in awards.
