Community event to welcome international students

Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board is pleased to participate in an event to welcome international students to the Quinte region.

TIME:
6:45 pm – Arrival Reception (hot/cold refreshments).
7:30 pm – Presentations & Performances

LOCATION: Albert College, Ackerman Hall, 160 Dundas Street West, Belleville

Guests are encouraged to dress in their national clothing, if possible.

“It is a wonderful experience for everyone in the community to engage with international students. As Canadians, we can share our culture while learning new traditions from youth from around the world,” remarked Carol Goerke, Manager, International Student Program.

  • United Nations Association of Canada

For the 2012-2013 school year, the International Student Program welcomes 132 students from 14 countries—China, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Hong Kong, Macau, Germany, Austria, Italy, Switzerland, Russia, Pakistan, Brazil and Mexico. Students from Spain were also welcomed for a short-term stay during the month of September.

International students live with local families. This year the students are attending Centre Hastings Secondary School, North Hastings High School and Prince Edward Collegiate Institute.
