Centre Hastings SS student earns honourable mention in essay contest

Congratulations to Centre Hastings Secondary School student, Delaney Barnes, who received an honourable mention in the national Turning Points essay contest.

Out of more than 11,500 entries submitted from across the country, Delaney’s personal essay “Hallway of Twists and Turns” placed in the top nine for senior grades.

Each year, students in the Grade 12 Writer’s Craft class compose a personal essay about turning points in their lives that have impacted who they are and their outlook on life. Only three essays can be chosen for submission. Delaney’s touching and artistically composed essay is about the loss of her father. Her honest and insightful writing is sure to evoke emotion in any reader.

Delaney’s essay will be published and she will be honoured at the Changing Your Future and Turning Points Annual Awards Event in Toronto on Thursday, May 19, 2011 for her outstanding accomplishment.
