Students across the district are eager to sing on Monday, May 7, 2012. That is the date of the annual Music Monday event when one song is performed by students across the country at the same time through different time zones.
The song for Music Monday this year is Tomorrow is Coming, written and recorded by Juno-nominee, Luke Doucet. The song was co-commissioned by CBC and the Coalition for Music Education.
Bayside Public School will be combining Music Monday with a spring concert featuring ukuleles that were purchased through a grant from The Hastings and Prince Edward Learning Foundation. Bayside students will sing the Music Monday song, along with the rest of Canada and have performances by the school band and ukulele students.
Music Monday celebrations are also taking place at Athol-South Marysburgh Public School, Bird’s Creek Public School, C.M.L. Snider School, North Hastings High School, Prince Charles School (Belleville), Queen Elizabeth Public School (Trenton), Sophiasburgh Central School and V.P. Carswell Elementary School.
Music Monday is celebrated on the first Monday of May each year at 1:00 p.m. across the country.
