School communities throughout Ontario will celebrate Bullying Awareness and Prevention Week November 15 – 19, 2010.
Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board has partnered with local police services, Parent Involvement Committee, student groups, Loyalist College and community agencies to plan activities. The local theme is Be Kind to Me.
Bullying Awareness and Prevention Week is an important way to focus the school community on promoting a safer learning environment for all students, which is essential to their success. It is also a time to raise awareness of bullying-related issues with parents/guardians and the local community.
Community members are invited to the following:
- Tuesday, November 16, 7:00 p.m., student drama performance Everyone Knows Someone: Stand Up to Bullying. The location is CORE (Old Corby Library), 223 Pinnacle Street (Campbell Street entrance), Belleville. Free parking after 6:00 p.m. This is a free event, open to the public, no registration is required.
- Wednesday, November 17, 2010, 6:30 to 9:00 p.m., free Registration is limited, RSVP is required.
Schools will also be hosting a variety of bullying awareness events and activities for students and families alike.
Media representatives are invited to a kick-off celebration, as noted below:
