Congratulations to 107 individuals who graduated from Quinte Adult Education. All are adults over age 18 who achieved an Ontario Secondary School Diploma by completing the required number of secondary school credits.
According to program coordinator Julie Jarvis, this number represents the highest number of graduates in recent memory.
"Our program makes it easy for adults to reconnect to learning," remarked Jarvis. "Through Quinte Adult Education adults can sign up for eLearning or participate in our unique Learn While You Earn program. It’s really exciting to be involved in Adult Education at this point in time because technology makes it accessible to so many."
Director of Education Kathy Soule, who spoke at the graduation, commended the adult students.
"Being here this afternoon shows that you believe in lifelong learning. Congratulations on your accomplishments. You’ve achieved success because of your hard work and commitment to your education," stated Soule.
Quinte Adult Education is part of Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board. The program is available to adults who are 18 years of age and older who want to earn their Grade 12 diploma, need a college/university prerequisite, need to upgrade skills to obtain a promotion and further a career, or just to take a course for fun. All courses qualify for high school credits. Several methods are available, such as Mature/PLAR credits, correspondence courses, online courses, Learn While You Earn Co-op, night school courses, and apprenticeship/Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program credits.
