French Immersion expands to five schools for September 2017
April 10, 2017—The number of schools hosting French Immersion programs will increase in September 2017 based on local interest. Two schools will be added, bringing the total to five.
Extended French will continue to be offered at one school in North Hastings.
New FI schools for September 2017
Existing FI schools for September 2017
- Bayside Public School, 2 classes plus a wait list
- Harry J. Clarke Public School, 2 classes
- Queen Elizabeth School (Picton), 1 class
Existing Extended French school for September 2017
- York River Public School, 1 class
French Immersion develops communication and critical thinking skills, as well as promotes personal growth and self-confidence. FI begins in Grade 4.
Extended French helps students to develop French-language skills in a variety of subject areas. A minimum of 25% of instruction is in French.
