Public school board to host Google summit for educators
September 26, 2016—Educators from local school boards and across the province will be heading to Belleville’s Centennial Secondary School in October to attend the EdTechTeam Summit featuring Google for Education.
This two-day high-intensity event focuses on deploying, integrating, and using Google Apps for Education (and other Google tools) to promote student learning in K-12 and higher education.
“We’re very excited to host this global teaching and learning technology event,” said Cathy Portt, Superintendent of Education. “It aligns with goals in our strategic plan to collaborate as a learning organization and to support all students to be globally minded learners and leaders.”
The conference will include keynotes and breakout sessions on issues such as:
- Technology integration
- 21st century learning skills
- Student motivation, engagement and agency
- Student-focused differentiation and personalization
- Design thinking and rapid prototyping
- Inquiry, problem-based learning, Genius Hour and 20% Time
All presenters are Google for Education Certified Innovators, Google for Education Certified Trainers, Google Employees, or teachers with local success stories.
ABOUT THE EdTechTEAM SUMMIT FEATURING GOOGLE FOR EDUCATION
Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board has partnered with EdTech, a professional development company that hosts summits across the world, to host this event. During the two-day conference, K-12 educators will gather to enhance their professional skills and knowledge to advance student learning in the classroom.
Participants can expect to learn practical and effective strategies for enhancing and differentiating their instructional practices, while addressing immediate issues impacting instruction, such as using technology to enhance instruction, aligning standards, and engaging all learners.
